Transapical catheterization of the aortic valve (TA-TAVI) is an important milestone in the field of minimally invasive cardiac surgery, creating a precedent for multidisciplinary cross-combination, bringing patients who are old and high risk to be reluctant or unable to do conventional thoracotomy. With new hope, on March 10, 2018, Dr. Cheng’s Affiliated Hospital Eastern Hospital District successfully performed TAVI for a female 80-year-old high-risk patient.
